(new) Ziar Breadseed Poppy - Produces
big, non-shattering capsules of grey poppy seeds, great for bread,
bagels or just eating out of hand! The white and pink petals open for
just a day or two before they drop and make way for the capsule,
harvest after it turns brown and the seeds rattle inside. Several hundred seeds
(new) Amaranth - A strain that has self-seeded and grows "wild" in the bottom corner of our garden. It grows to between 4 and 8 feet with red leaves and black seeds. A pretty incredible plant, amaranth has tender, edible leaves when young and when mature yields a super-nutritious, high-protein grain. Once a staple crop on the Aztecs, it was nearly lost but is now enjoying a major comeback. Very ornamental too, amaranth would look equally at home among the flowers or in the vegetable garden. Several hundred seeds
Buckwheat - We use buckwheat mainly as a warm weather green-manure crop. Buckwheat is very fast growing and will be ready to till-in after only 30 or so days. If left to grow it will produce beautiful, mildy fragrant blossoms that bees love, followed by a grain crop. Several hundred seeds
Wild Lupin - These are seeds from the lupins that grow wild around the farm. Harvested from a mix of purple, pink, white and multi-coloured flowers. Seeds should be soaked for 24 hours before sowing. Several hundred seeds
