Beta vulgaris - Actually a variety of chard. When young, it's soft green leaves could easily pass for spinach. As the plants grow, the leaves develop into full sized chard. Like all chards, and unlike true spinach, it doesn’t bolt it’s first summer, so spring plantings will bear tender leaves right through the growing season. Ideal for fall planting, we love growing it in our winter high tunnel from an early September sowing. Less stemmy than regular chard. 100+ seeds (2 g)
