C. moschata - Amazing green-fleshed fruit. One of our favourite squash for flavour; sweet and fruity (reminiscent of honeydew) with firm, silky texture. Like butternut, but a bit different. Lots of diversity, definitely would be considered a landrace variety. Shapes range from slender long-necked fruit to round pumpkin shaped (however the majority are butternut shaped). Their flesh ranges from green to chocolate-orange. Cooking them brings out the darker green (see photos). Long prolific vines. Limited supply, 15 seeds

-Grown by Annapolis Seeds

Because it’s originally a tropical variety, I'm happy and almost surprised that they're proving successful here in the Annapolis Valley. We've grown them out four generations now, and they've become noticeably earlier in that time. They do take a full season; we direct sowed them around June 1 and harvested around the first frost in October. We'll continue working with them, and hope to see them increasingly adapted for the north.
