Fuubi Choy Sum

New for 2025 - B. rapa - aka Chinese flowering cabbage. Choy Sum was a new to us vegetable, and quickly became a farm favourite. Imagine tatsoi, but grown for juicy florets rather than leaves. Like Chinese rapini! Compared to rapini I found them to have thicker and more luscious stems, with a sweet (not at all bitter) flavour. Best grown as a fall crop in our climate. Our late July sown plants produced a delicious crop of October florets, and our September sowing in the greenhouse was budding into December. Spring sown plants are prone to premature bolting.
