New for 2025 - Prunus dulcis - Yes, almonds trees can grow Nova Scotia. These seeds are offspring from the variety 'Hall's Hardy', which is the result of a peach/almond cross and hardy to at least zone 5. We've been propagating them ourselves for a few years to expand our little orchard, so far with good success. Almonds are self-fertile, so seedlings will likely be very similar to their parents. Fast growing trees, reaching a height of 15-20 feet.

The tree is covered in bright pink flowers in early spring, usually early May around here. The nuts are produced inside a fleshy/leathery husk, which dries and peels part way off at maturity. Shake them off the tree and pull off their husks, before spreading the almonds to cure. Their shells are thicker than those of a classic almond, and resemble a peach pit. The nut is small with an intense 'almond' flavour. They should be roasted or soaked before eating. 10 seeds

Grown by Annapolis Seeds

These seeds are partially stratified. We've begun the process, and you'll want to keep the bag in your fridge to continue stratification until early spring. Plant them outdoors into the ground, or into large pots.

Note: Our nut tree seeds require expedited shipping ($20 per order), since they're too bulky for letter mail (our basic $5 option).
