Plantago psyllium - Annual herb, native to the Mediterranean. Their seeds are the source of the fabled and famously soluble psyllium fibre. Can be either direct sown or transplanted in spring after the risk of frost. Harvest the seed heads as they turn brown (but before they shatter).
