Lepidium spp. - Hardy and fast growing, the peppery leaves are great chopped in salads or cooked into stews and curries. This variety is extra large-leaved compared to regular old Garden Cress. Although it resembles Garden Cress (Lepidium sativum) we're not 100% sure it's true species name. After the plants flower, the dry seed stalks are beautiful material for arrangements. Very cold hardy, ideal for fall sowing and winter harvests. This variety was collected in 1954 from a market in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and added to the USDA seed bank collection. There they stayed (relatively unappreciated) for decades until recently; many thanks go to Experimental Farm Network for bringing this unique seed to a wider audience. 100+ seeds
