New for 2025 - B. rapa - aka Chinese flowering cabbage. Choy Sum was a new to us vegetable, and quickly became a farm favourite. Imagine tatsoi, but grown for juicy florets rather than leaves. Like Chinese rapini! Compared to rapini I found them to have thicker and more luscious stems, with a sweet (not at all bitter) flavour. Best grown as a fall crop in our experience. Our late July sown plants produced a delicious crop of October florets, and our September sowing in the greenhouse was budding into December. Can be started in early spring also. They'll bolt prematurely in hot weather, resulting in small florets. About 80 days from emergence to harvest.
