(Bush Bean) Limelight is a very interesting short season alternative for Lima beans. Shell them fresh when the seeds plump in their pods, cooking only lightly. I've found them to be early maturing and productive. Developed by Dr. Gavin Kemp, and released in 1968 by the Agriculture Canada station in Lethbridge, AB. 30-50 seeds (15 g)

Grown by Annapolis Seeds

Dr. Kemp developed a number of important varieties during his career in the 1950s through 80s. He's considered a grandfather of prairie dry bean breeding.

Growing Info
Growth type Bush
Sowing and timing I like to direct sow beans. Sow anytime after the risk of frost (for us that's early June). I aim to get all my dry beans planted before the summer solstice (June 21), to ensure they mature in time. Fresh eating beans take less time to mature, and can be planted as late as mid-July.
Spacing 8-12" between plants, 24-36" between rows. Further spacing helps create good air flow, which reduces mold (an issue during wet summers)
Soil Well drained, with medium fertility. Beans will produce more in well amended soil. As legumes they fix nitrogen, and are more tolerant of poor soil than most vegetables are.
Light Full sun is ideal
