From Golden Ears Farm in Chase, BC. Brought to Nova Scotia by Steph and Dan of Twisted Brook Farm, when they moved here from the Shuswap Lake region. From a small handful came a bounty. Small red beans on sturdy, productive bushes. They are quick to establish and among the first beans to dry down in the field. 40-50 seeds (12 g)

Growing Info
Growth type Bush
Sowing and timing I like to direct sow beans. Sow anytime after the risk of frost (for us that's early June). I aim to get all my dry beans planted before the summer solstice (June 21), to ensure they mature in time. Fresh eating beans take less time to mature, and can be planted as late as mid-July.
Spacing 8-12" between plants, 24-36" between rows. Further spacing helps create good air flow, which reduces mold (an issue during wet summers)
Soil Well drained, with medium fertility. Beans will produce more in well amended soil. As legumes they fix nitrogen, and are more tolerant of poor soil than most vegetables are.
Light Full sun is ideal
