Camelina

Camelina sativa - An ancient oilseed from northern Europe, well suited to growing in harsh climates. Extremely easy to grow, they can be direct seeded into the poorest soil and still thrive. The plants grow to about 3' tall, with soft yellow flowers followed by small seed pods. Harvest when the pods begin to turn brown. Like flax, the oil is rich in Omega 3. Compared to flax camelina seems better-suited to cultivating in the often moist and unpredictable climate of the Maritimes. Definitely a plant I intend to experiment with more in future years! Several hundred seeds
