New for 2026 - Myosotis laxa - aka Smaller Forget-me-not. Our native forget-me-not. This species is circumboreal; native across both North America and Eurasia. In Nova Scotia you'll find them growing in moist woodland edges, ditches and along small brooks. They thrive in a wide range of garden settings, from sun to shade. Small sky-blue flowers with yellow centres that bloom in June.

Growing Info
Sowing Start seeds indoors early spring. Can also be direct sown anytime in spring. April is about right.
Transplant Outdoors after risk of frost

Soil They like moist soil, often growing in ditches or wet meadows.
Life cycle Annual, biennial or perennial (you never know with this one). They will hopefully self seed if they like their growing conditions.
