Black Gram Bean

Vigna mungo - aka: Urad Bean. Black seeded relative of the mung bean, this pulse has a prominent place in Indian farming and cuisine. High protein, and delicious in the form of dal. Bush plants covered in fuzzy leaves and many small pods. Limited supply, 40+ seeds

I picked the dry pods off the plants in early October as they matured, but I suspect the whole plant could be cut and dried for more efficient harvest (I’m still getting to know them as a plant, I’ll report back in future years!)
