Lupinus polyphyllus - Seeds from the lupins that grow wild around our farm. Harvested from a mix of purple, pink, white and multi-coloured flowers. Although wild lupins are iconic throughout Atlantic Canada, they’re actually introduced here, being native to the west coast. Hardy, nitrogen fixing perennial.  Approx. 100 seeds (2 grams)

Pre-sowing tricks Soak for 24 hours and carefully remove a small piece of the seed coat with a knife (scarify)
Sowing After soaking and scarification, sow indoors in April. Alternately, can be direct sown in fall without any special treatment.
Transplant outdoors After plants are well established with several sets of leaves
Spacing 12-24" between plants
Soil requirements Average to poor fertility - Tolerant of a wide range of conditions. They don't like standing water. Dry and rocky is fine though
