Easy to grow large bulbs that are delicious grated raw in salads and slaws, fermented in kraut or kimchi, mashed or added to soups and stew. They keep right through winter in a cold cellar or fridge.

There is a marketing board for everything in England, even one to hustle celeriac. This crew of marketing magicians were responsible for trying to sell celeriac by asking ‘Have you tried the ugly one?’ with a line drawing of a celeriac with arms, legs and a top hat.   Surely celeriac can speak for itself as a wickedly good storage crop on par with the potato.
