Buena Mulata Hot Pepper

New for 2025 - This variety really impressed us last season! Beautiful tapered fruit start out violet purple and ripen to a deep rich red. Cayenne-like levels of heat. Versatile in cooking, and they dry well for powder or flakes.

Their story traces back to Horace Pippen, an influential Philapelphia painter who's career spanned the 1920s to 40s. Horace was also a seed saver, and shared this variety with H. Ralph Weaver, grandfather of prolific seedsman William Woys Weaver. Weaver (the younger) found this variety in his grandparent's deep freeze, and brought it back as part of the Roughwood Seed Collection.
