Thymus vulgaris - Short spreading plants, with upright stems reaching about 12" high. Use either fresh or dried to flavour cooking. Not only a culinary herb, but medicinal as well (true for almost all culinary herbs); it's a carminative that helps the digestive system. Prefers well drained sandy or gravelly soil. Low maintenance once established. Hardy to zone 4.  60+ seeds

Growing Info
Sowing Start seeds indoors early spring. The seeds are tiny, press into soil surface just barely covering. Light helps germination. Keep warm and moist while germinating, but don't over water after they sprout.
Transplant outdoors After the risk of frost
Spacing 8-12" between plants. They spread over time, filling in the gaps.
Soil Thyme thrives in poor dry soil. Sand and gravel are no problem. But they're happy in many soil types, as long as drainage is good.
