Polygonum tinctorium - The northern climate source of indigo dye. Grown for centuries in China and Japan, they also thrive in Nova Scotia. Fast growing, frost sensitive annual. They grow into a leafy 2-3’ tall bush, with pink flowers. The main source of blue dye in Japan until true indigo (Indigofera tinctoria) started being imported from the tropics. Prefers full sun and plenty of moisture, pretty similar growing conditions as basil. 50+ seeds
