Kay's Orange Calendula

New for 2026 - Vividly orange flowers, with long wavy petals. Almost like sea anemone in their waviness. They don't seem to be quite as sticky and resinous as some medicinal varieties are (although all calendula can be used medicinally). Bushy plants bloom all through summer into fall.

I met this variety back in 2011, while I was visiting the Koanga Institute in New Zealand. Walking in Kay Baxter's garden these calendula caught my eye, I had never seen petals quite like them before. I brought a pinch of seeds home with me, and have been growing them ever since, still without knowing their original name.
