New for 2026 - Amaranthus caudatus - This unique plant caught every visitor's attention at the farm last year. 5' tall stalks with long pendulous red flower heads. Some flowers were long enough to touch the ground, trailing like ropes. The strikingly red flowers can be used for dye. Like all amaranth, the young leaves and seeds are edible, although not as productive for seed as grain varieties like Golden Giant. Our local sparrows and other small songbirds were very happy about their late summer seeds.
