Montana Morado Corn
New for 2023 - Incredibly deep black kernels, for making dark anthocyanin-rich corn flour. The plants are 5-6’ tall, with 1 or 2 cobs each. Very early maturing, we had dry cobs in early September from a late May sowing.
Developed over decades by Dave Christensen, selecting for the darkest kernels and to thrive in his harsh Montana conditions. Christiansen is also the breeder behind Painted Mountain Corn, my understanding is that this one is a sibling variety. I’m excited to observe how they adapt in future years grown in our comparatively moist climate! 40+ seeds (14 g)
