Plantago major 'rubrifolia' – Similar medicinal and edible attributes to common plantain, but with dark red to purple leaves. All parts are edible. The leaves are used in poultices and salves, and the seeds are highly mucilaginous (psyllium fibre comes from a closely related plantain). Hardy and easy to grow perennial. Easy to find when you get stung by a bee! 150+ seeds
