Velvet Soybean

Tall and productive plants up to 3’. Medium sized beige beans. Unique in that the whole plant (leaves, pods and stems) are covered in remarkably thick velvet-y fuzz. Relatively late maturing; they’re among our last soybeans to dry down in the field but they always do ripen for us here in the Annapolis Valley. Originated in 1956 as an off-type of a variety called Blackhawk. Very rare. 30-40 seeds (12 g)
