Yorkshire Hero Pea
Old and rare heirloom, I think we're currently the only commercial source for this variety. It dates back to at least 1865; it was a popular variety in both the UK and North America through the late 19th century. But as trendy new varieties gained popularity, Yorkshire Hero gradually fell to the wayside. I was given a small sample of seeds from the USDA genebank some years ago, and I've been a fan ever since.
Compact plants grow to 2 1/2 feet. They're impressively productive, with a sweet and rich flavour. 20-30 seeds (12g)
