New for 2026 - Ruellia humilis - aka Prairie Petunia. Perennial wildflower. North American native found in meadows across the eastern US (their wild range stops just short of the Canadian border). Short bushy plants about 12" tall. Soft purple trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom for multiple months of late summer. Although they resemble petunia flowers, they're actually unrelated. Very drought tolerant once established, they needed no extra water during our extended drought of 2025. The mature seed pods will pop and catapult the seeds some distant away. They're known to self-sow, but not so much that volunteers become bothersome.
